Do not use Free up space or empty trash to test backup. Preserve local files until verified. Enabling extra folders can upload private pictures you did not intend to store in that account.

Choose a reference photo
Pick a recognisable recent photo and preserve its original. Confirm the account through your Google Photos profile and read whether backup is off, waiting, running or complete.
Record the exact state and account. Keep the account unchanged throughout the comparison.
Review backup conditions
From the profile, open Photos settings and Backup. Confirm it is enabled for the intended account. Check Wi-Fi requirements and available Google storage, which differs from phone storage.
An explicit network or capacity wait is more informative than simply calling the problem syncing.
Inspect the affected folder
If camera photos upload but another app’s images do not, review Back up device folders. Enable only the intended folder after checking its contents.
A backed-up camera folder does not mean every Android folder is included.
Inspect the individual file
Open the photo’s details and check whether it is backed up or pending. Keep a stable connection and allow completion before another change. For one failing file, record format, size and warning for support.
A general count does not replace checking the specific item you need to preserve.
Verify on the web
Open photos.google.com in a browser using the same account and locate the image. Open it, check date and content, then repeat with an important video. Keep an independent copy of irreplaceable items.
Only after verification should you consider device cleanup. This guide does not instruct you to delete anything.
When to stop and ask for help
For persistent waiting despite space and connectivity, preserve originals and report status and file type to Google. Avoid reinstalling or clearing app data while the only copy’s location is uncertain.
