THE SHORT ANSWER

Start with this check.

A clock means you should check the connection. One grey check mark means the message has been sent: wait and see whether the same thing happens with other contacts before changing phone settings.

Protect your chats. Reinstalling WhatsApp or clearing its data is not a useful first test for a message that has already been sent.

Which situation matches yours?

There is a clockTry loading a new web page on the phone, then compare another connection.
There is one grey check markCheck whether this affects just one contact. This does not prove that they have blocked you.
There are two grey check marksThe message has been delivered. Missing blue marks do not show a sending failure.

Let’s go step by step.

0 of 4 checks completed

Mark each check to keep track during this visit.

01

Identify the state of this message

Open the chat and check the particular message you are concerned about. Note whether it has a clock, one check mark or two. Keep an older message separate from the new message you use for your test.

What to look for

One check mark means sent; two mean delivered. Read receipts are a separate stage.

02

Run a small, controlled connection test

If sending is still pending, open a web page you have not recently visited. Compare Wi-Fi with mobile data if your plan allows it. Send one short sentence to a contact who knows you are testing.

What to look for

If it sends on the other network, you have narrowed the issue to the previous connection. Reinstalling the app is unnecessary for that result.

03

Find out how widely the problem occurs

Check whether one chat or several are affected. If the same phone can message other people, note that result. If only a large photo fails, try text: sending an attachment is a different case from being unable to send any message.

What to look for

A problem with one contact is not enough to infer that you are blocked. Avoid sending the same message repeatedly.

04

Stop changing settings once it is sent

When the clock becomes one check mark, your sending test is complete. A recipient who is offline or has no available device may not receive it immediately. Do not keep changing settings just because the second check mark has not appeared.

What to look for

If the clock remains on two different connections, record the time, operating system and any error message, then consult WhatsApp support.

When to stop and ask for help

If WhatsApp displays an account restriction or suspension, follow the process in that notice. Connection checks cannot resolve an account restriction. Never share verification codes with someone claiming to be support.

Common questions

Does one check mark mean I am blocked?

Not on its own. It means the message has been sent but has not yet been shown as delivered.

Should I clear data or reinstall?

Start by identifying the message state and whether the problem affects other chats. These first checks do not require deleting app data.

Why are there no blue check marks?

Read receipts depend on their settings and the type of conversation. Two grey marks already indicate delivery.
